What is the Data Driven Innovation programme?

The Data Driven Innovation programme is a core part of the City Region Deal. It's a collaborative initiative between the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University to improve the data-literacy of the population and develop innovative products and services through the use of data.

We are in an age where data is 'the new oil' and has immense value...Edinburgh is carving out a niche in data science.

Edinburgh is home to five 'hubs' of the Data Driven Innovation:

  • The Bayes Centre
  • Easter Bush Campus
  • Edinburgh Futures Institute
  • The National Robotarium
  • The Usher Institute 

These hubs are working together with industry and schools at the University to  educate and employ the next generation of graduates.

The job market is rapidly shifting and the DDI is one step in equipping graduates to deal with increasing levels of automation.
