So here we are, coming to the end of another topsy turvy year. The market for talent heating up again but uncertainty and changing social restrictions making it hard for all of us - students, universities and employers - to navigate. I think we should all be giving ourselves a big pat on the back for getting to the festive season! Image Thank you for riding the rollercoaster with us and continuing to try out different ways of engaging students in career options. We’re really proud to have had over 3200 students engaging with over 200 of you in this last semester - and that’s just through the activity we have hosted, hopefully you’ve seen lots in the events you’ve organised yourselves too. Whilst student engagement has been challenging across the UK recruitment landscape, as this recent ISE article highlights, there is still lots of it! And we’ve had great feedback from students and yourselves: “The good thing about it being online is that I got to talk 1 on 1 for much longer with the stalls, which was cool, and made me feel confident about myself” (Student) “The EventsAir fair has been my favourite platform used so far this year, as it has the ability to upload documents and extra material to showcase our company and also have in-house text or video calls with students, saving creating multiple links/external sessions” (Employer) This is another “new” academic year for us all, trialling how we manage online alongside in person activity. We’re all still learning what kinds of engagement will work in this new environment, and what both you, and students, are enjoying and finding effective. We would love to hear your ideas and feedback, so please do share! What are we offering next Semester? 2022 will be a continuation of that experimentation. In an environment where there will be many elements vying for attention, it may require us all to invest more time and energy, but there is lots that is worth trying too. We’re aiming for a mix of online and in person, restrictions permitting, on the themes of Tech&Data, Creative&Cultural, and graduate jobs, with free options for SMEs.
