Careers in Tech & Data Fair (29 January 2025) Our Careers in Tech & Data Fair is designed to help you raise your profile and promote your graduate roles, internships and other paid opportunities that can come under the “Tech & Data Careers” banner. We want to encourage students from all degree disciplines to consider the range of options a Tech & Data career can offer; inspiration for our Informatics students at the top end of the technical skills spectrum, options for students from other STEM subjects with solid relevant skills, and advice for non-STEM students with a developing interest and the capacity to learn. Key Details for Organisations:When: Wednesday 29 January 2025, 1:00 - 4:30pm Venue: On-Campus - McEwan Hall, Bristo Square, Edinburgh, Cost: £400 + VAT for Exhibitors paying via invoice £350 + VAT for Exhibitors able to pay online without an invoiceOur priority is to facilitate positive connections between recruiting organisations and University of Edinburgh students and graduates. We do not want price to be a barrier, if you are unable to afford the exhibition rate, you can get in touch with our team. Contact employers@ed.ac.uk Target student audience: The fair will be promoted to students from all subject areas and all year groups but would expect most interest to come from Undergraduates in years 2-4/5 and post-graduate taught students. Would expect about 60% interest from students in our College of Science & Engineering (includes Informatics) and 40% non-STEM from Arts, Humanities and Social Science subjects.Why should you book? In line with our aim to showcase the variety of roles and organisations that can come under the “Tech & Data Careers” banner we aim to offer slots to a diverse range of organisations and to cover topics that appeal to both STEM and non–STEM students. Make sure your vacancies and events are listed on MyCareerHubAround the time of the fair, we plan to shine a spotlight on the huge range of tech and data roles you are looking to fill; from Cyber Security Analysts or Machine Learning Engineers, where you might be looking for quite specific skills, through to Data Analysts, Digital Marketing Officers or Web Designers where you might welcome applications from a wider range of students and graduates. We want to showcase the variety of sectors and organisations that can come under the “Tech & Data Careers” banner i.e. can include technical roles in an organisation whose core business is not technology-specific and could include roles in ‘Tech companies” that are not strictly technical roles. From 12 Feb – 1 March we'll be encouraging students to search for content on socials, plus vacancies and events on MyCareerHub using #EdTechDataCareers. To make the most of this: Ensure that you've uploaded any relevant opportunities to MyCareerHub and added #EdTechDataCareers as part of your vacancy and event description so that it will appear in students' search results. Use the hashtag on your own social media posts to help University of Edinburgh students engaging with the campaign to find you e.g. Tag us in any short videos you have (30 secs or so) so we can share on our socials Listing your vacancies and events Write a blog post We always welcome guest pieces for our Inform.ed Blog. We'd be looking for someone from your organisation to write something that gives our readers an insight into their career path, sector or type of role. E.g. Keen to hear from someone who is applying their tech/data skills outside the tech sector e.g. Advertising/Marketing and HR/People Analytics An insight from a recent graduate from Science, Engineering or Maths background who can demonstrate how their analytical skills are valued in tech/data roles. .
